Cup hopes over already...

Shawdale exit the Lancashire cup in round 1. Unfortunately it was not meant to be this tie round for Shawdale.

A game that had no clear winners, both teams battled hard in a well contested fixture. There was nothing to separate the sides until a second half free kick from the home side was turned in his own net by Allott.

The two team both created chances but appeared no one had their shootings boots on today. Shawdale continued to press the home side all second half to try and find an equaliser, the better of the two sides in the last 15 minutes. Then a chance came, a free kick from 40 yards out was played in behind to Durrant who headed square back across goal where Wriggers was there to what seemed like a last gasp eqauliser to take the game to penalties. However the ref ruled it offside to the heart break of Shawdale, a decision which was not clear to anyone but the ref.

It seemed he did not know who was offside as there was a confused look on both home and away sides faces. However it was not Shawdales day and they exit the Lancashire cup in round one. Hopefully this will steer the on in the league and hopefully pick up trophies elsewhere this season.
